The Sustainable Travel Guides: Hydra

As a Greek living abroad, my goal each time I visit Greece is to explore as many places as possible. Or to revisit places that I have been to as a child, in order to experience them through another perspective. So, I made a list of islands that I have a vague memory of visiting them. As I was looking for a destination that requires minimum effort to visit, I instantly thought of Hydra. Next morning, my mother and I were on the boat from Piraeus.

If you do not know a lot of about Hydra, here is the most interesting fact: it is a vehicle free island. There are no cars, no motorbikes, no scouters. That means it is a quiet island, with fresh air and perfect to completely unwind.

Our day trip to Hydra consisted of mostly outdoor activities. We went hiking towards the Church of Saint Konstantinos, and witnessed the beautiful view of the island from above. I loved the view so much that the picture I took that day, became the cover of this E-Book.

Although our visit to Hydra was only for a day, I did an extensive research, talked with locals, and did my absolute best to create a travel guide that could assist you in planning a 3 to 4 day trip to the island.

So, in its 36 pages The Sustainable Travel Guides: Hydra,  includes all the information you need to plan your trip to Hydra. From accommodation, food options, culture, activities, shopping to summer bonus and transportation. Of course, a travel guide would not be complete without some local tips and a map of the island.
